So I really think it would be a better explanation of why the boat's called that (and why Simonyi's girlfriend called him so) to mention this basic meaning of the word, in stead of the less-exact translation "darling" and the frankly rather surreal, in this context, talk about tax levels. The word "skat" in Danish of course also means treasure, which is the main meaning - the sense "darling" is because you can see someone you love as "your treasure", and the sense "tax" is secondary, as in "money the citizens get to put in the king's treasure coffers". Going above that places it into having more compliance issues, more restrictions of crewing, probably stricter maintenance schedules, limits resale ability, etc.
